Happy Thanksgiving

We had a great PJ and stuffie day. The kids did a great job making great choices on a day when they are a little more excited than usual. The stuffie behaved themselves too! Check out some pictures in the October folder.

Here are a few things we have been/will be working on:

  • we will continue working on some gratitude activities after reading Todd Parr's, The Thankful book
  • Week 6 spelling. Each week the kids practice a couple new spelling patterns at their level
  • we'll start literacy centers (listening to reading, work with teacher (usually reading comprehension at their level), word work, independent reading and work on writing)
  • we are still looking at mapping components
  • we will focus on addition strategies and growing patterns
Here is an example of some Thanksgiving art that we finished working on this past week. They are proudly hanging in the school entrance on display.

I will not be sending home many projects throughout the year. I will organize your child's grade 2 projects and send them home in a memory book at the end of the year.

I am sending home your child's Mathletics sign in information. This is a math program that our parent council has paid for. It is a way to practice math skills in a fun way. It is great because it follows the Alberta math curriculum. It will be in the front page of your child's agenda.

Have a great weekend!
